About the job

We are excited to recruit a Chef Manager to join our brilliant team at Hungerford Primary School. The role is perfect for you if you are looking for a term time only role that allows you to spend your time at home during the school holidays. We are looking for someone who has a passion for food – turning ‘school food’ on its head by delivering nutritious, healthy food to pupils, and bringing some fun to lunch time as you join your team of GA’s behind the servery.

You must be able, and willing to manage the 360-degree kitchen. This means you are a chef, a leader, a cleaner, a KP, and a H&S manager. It’s up to you to prep like a boss, manage your time and get everything done. This is a flagship school and a great opportunity to make a real difference.

You’ll be joining a small company and have high input from our Culinary Director and Managing Director. You are supported by a team that is truly fabulous who know the school very well.

During COVID-19, things are a little bit different, but please be assured we have plans in place to make sure we have as many as people eating as possible whilst ensuring they remain safe. We will need you to be proactive, use common sense and apply a challenger mindset to each day.

We are a thriving business, disrupting the market and aiming to be better each day. If you’re up for joining us on our mission, then apply below!

No agencies or recruiting companies are being considered at this time. Please do not call us as this takes valuable time away from people applying directly.

• Educated to 4 GCSE’s or above with City & Guild’s / NVQ qualifications or suitable company in-house training
• Previous experience as a chef, including holding supervisory responsibility for a minimum of 2 years
• Understanding of Food Hygiene and Safety or above
• Successful progressive background in contract catering (preferred)
• Management of medium size kitchen (preferred)

We want you to work WITH us to provide the very best school catering around. We give you access to training opportunities, both mandatory for your role and aspirational. We want everyone we work with to upskill, by undertaking NVQ’s and going to the next level. We are a small, local company, we have zero bureaucracy, are hands on and are100% committed.

  • Competitive rate of pay

  • Flexible holiday - take the school holidays off!

  • Eligible for participation in the Nest Pension Scheme

  • Opportunities for development within our amazing small company

  • EAP with Hospitality Action

  • Lots of reward and recognition opportunities
